Miren Jaio
Biography
Art critic who lives and works in Bilbao. She
has a degree in Art History (Universidad de Zaragoza), an MA in
Museum Studies (City University, London) and is currently working
on her phd (Universidad del País Vasco). She has taught
Contemporary Art History in Universidad del País Vasco,
Arte Eskola and USAC (University Studies Abroad Consortium).
Texts and essays: Her texts and essays have appeared in several
Spanish art magazines and newspapers (Zehar, Lápiz, Arquitectura
Viva, Rekarte, Mugalari art supplement of Gara newspaper) and
catalogues and art books (Área 2 de sala rekalde, Reacción-Erreakzioa,
La Casa Encendida, Manifesta 5, Gure Artea, A partir de cuatro
películas, ¡Escóndete Objeto!…) She
has also edited several publications: dieciocho, of INjuve in
2002, Front Line Compilation (DAE) in collaboration with Peio
Aguirre and Leire Vergara in 2003, Beste Bat! in collaboration
with Fito Rodríguez in 2004…).
Workshops and talks:She has given talks and taken part in different

She has curated exhibitions such as Muestra de Arte Joven INjuve
in collaboration with Frederic Montornés (Madrid, 2002)
or Beste Bat! a project in collaboration with Fito Rodríguez
with archive material on the punk phenomenon in the Basque Country
in sala rekalde (Bilbao, 2004).
She is currently working with Oier Etxeberria on Periferiak07
a programme of projects centred on urban space. Taking editing
as art practice as this year’s main subject this programme
that comprises workshops, screenings, exhibitions and performances
will take place in Bilbao throughout 2007.
